How to Select 7/8", M12 or M16 Circular Connectors?

Selection cannot be based solely on diameter. Electrical standards, pin assignment, rating and mounting structure must be considered.

Comparison Item M12 7/8" M16
Interface System Metric Imperial Metric
Typical Positioning Signal, Data, Power Power Connection Multi-purpose Industrial Connection
Locking Structure M12 Thread 7/8"-16 UNF M16 Thread
Common Applications Sensors, IO, Industrial Network Equipment Power, Drives Industrial Machines, Instruments
Selection Focus Coding & Pin Count Electrical Rating & PE Requirement Pin Count & Mounting Type

When to Choose 7/8"?

If your equipment adopts 7/8" interface originally, or your design requires a dedicated industrial power port, 7/8" series is preferred.

For compact sensor interfaces or industrial network connections, select corresponding coded M12 connectors.

For other size connection requirements, you may also compare CONNODER M16 series.

Note: These three connectors are mechanically non-interchangeable and cannot be mated directly. Do not judge current or power rating only by outer diameter.
